2009 F650. Takes forever to build any pressure. Will not build pressure at idle. No leaks found. I'm thinking compressor. Any other things that will cause this?
How long is does it take? Tho I`ve never timed mine to be sure I think my L8000 takes about a minute and half to get to 120 psi from zero. You may have smaller air storage tanks.

Could be the governor. But, a lot of those trucks with Cummins engines have a muffler on the line coming out of the air compressor. It is a rectangular sheetmetal box just above and a little to the rear of the compressor. They are known to crack, and when they do you often have problem building air. The thing is since the line is before the check valve in the wet tank, the truck will hold air pressure no problem. It will only leak when the compressor is building pressure, and sometimes it is hard to hear the leak with the engine running. You might try checking it with soapy water.
Glad you found the problem, one other thing for future reference, is the purge valve on the drier can do the same thing, usually aggravated by cold weather. Sticks in the cold, and leaks so bad it will not build air, and you usually can't hear it, and when you kill the engine, the air is all gone before the engine noise is gone. Either clean it, or just haul off and replace. I usually just replace, but I am in the service industry, and don't like comebacks. Glad she's fixed.
