Since buying my 6.0 almost 8 years ago, I have done just about everything wrong. It's parked for long periods of time, I idle it for long periods of time without the high idle switch on and I drive it like a little old lady with the jimmy leg, and I have never added any gauges even though its primary use was to drag around a 14,000 pound trailer. Despite this truck being the best that has ever graced my driveway, I have a feeling my luck will eventually run out. I feel like I need a scan tool so I can occasionally monitor what's happening under the hood.
I considered the Auto Enginuity scan tool before, but I have a strict zero tolerance No Microsoft policy in my house. I was hopeful that they would eventually come out with a Mac version, but they have yet to do so. I am not about to defile one of my Mac's by installing Windows, but I am open to buying a cheap (is there any other kind?) Windows machine for the sole purpose of running the software....in the garage....nowhere near my bushel of apples. I first broke my policy by buying my wife an Explorer with the Sync system, but at least it stays in the garage. So I have a new garage exception to my strict policy.
So my question is: is it worth it? I'm assuming that the Ford expansion pack is a must have. I currently have 3 Ford's and I have my eyeball on a Mustang Boss 302. Any advice would be appreciated.
On a separate note, I just read that Autozone fired an employee for going to his truck and retrieving a gun so he could stop an armed robbery in progress. I have darkened their door for the last time.
