I recently purchased my grandpa's truck, a 2002 F150 4.2L v6 2wd 5speed Supercab XLT. I want to make it look and sound like a beast without spending too much money. I'm real heavy into Prerunners and offroad racing. Any suggestions for parts or modifications would be greatly appreciated.
First off the 4.2 is a turd and will never sound or perform "like a beast"
There are several places that sell suspension kits but they arent cheap. Expect kits to be in the $2000-2500 range. Fox or King shocks would probably be best but again not cheap.
just about every V6 i have ever heard with an other than stock "performance exhaust" on it has sounded like a tug boat that could only get 1/2 throttle.
I've had good luck with magnaflow catback systems on I4s/V6s, it's never going to sound like a v8 obviously, but they can sound "good" if your definition of good doesn't revolve around it sounding like a v8.
