is this bad?

so i pulled of the cover of my turbo to have a look inside. I noticed these crack or stress fractures not sure what they are. when i ran my finger across them they are rough not smooth. so does anyone know if this is something to worry about?

Is the black stuff a deposit ( carbon or oil ) and the cracks just in it or does it go into the metal as well? Kind of looks like it is on the surface of the housing

I am far from any kind of expert but I assume that it msut be from the CCV into your intake. Do you have much blowby at your oil filler tube? How many miles on the truck?

nothing more than casting marks, bud. If you were to polish it out, there wouldnt be any "cracks". The black soot is from the ccv, thats plumbed into the intake stream.

Timmy is right, they are casting marks and pretty much any cast aluminum has them.
