My 2000 f250 won't stay running it keeps draining the batters I have changed them and the alternater but the intake heater relay was burnt up and so was the wires going to it were burnt up so I took the relay off is that bad some one told me that I don't need it but it is still draning the batters I need help any help will be great
no you do not need the iah. you can disconnect one battery and unhook one cable from the other and hook a test light to the post to the clamp. it will light up. start pulling fuses one at a time until the light goes out. when you find the rite fuse you will know what circut is draining the batteries
I would suspect the IAH and/or Glow plug relays are stuck in the on position and draining your batteries. Burnt wires going to the relay is a clue that something is very wrong with those systems.
Ok I tried taking it off all together and it still keeps dying there are no shorts any where. Could the wires just being took off still kill the batters?
Take your battery's and have them Load tested. one battery probably has a dead cell and is draining both. It dose happen often when one go's bad. sometimes It will show 12 V by just doing a test. that's why it needs to be a load test.
it's a good chance the short and battery drain killed off a weak battery, you can NOT test both at the same time. you need to do EACH Separately.
