Hey all , had a good day running around gathering my parts for my coolant filter, bought oil and filter, got tires rotated and balanced then went to the shop and changed my oil and filter, "did fuel filter 2 weeks ago with the bowl rebuild" greased the front end , drive shaft and changed the diff front and rear. Whoooo what a day.
So on the way home " i very rarely EVER do this " i was like lets hear the ponys roar and that turbo sing. So from about 25mph i laid into the right pedal pretty hard. Not to the floor but a pretty good way down till i hit about 60mph. Rpms never went over 3k and all was good.
So when i pulled in i was curious if accelerating that hard threw any codes. Pulled the DTC and P0478 "Exhaust Pressure Control Valve High" popped up. I had checked them right before i left the shop so it had to be from the acceleration....... but why ? Just curious if accelerating that hard had something to do with it which i imagine it probably did but have never seen that before due to an acceleration like that. And it wasn't even to the floor.
I replaced the ebpv tube and sensor about two or 3 years ago and doing the fuel bowl rebuild 2 weeks ago i took the sensor and tube out and cleaned them both. Not too sooty at all it was all pretty clean. Ive driven probably 600 to 700 mi since then and check my DTCs at least 2times a week. Just wondering " for pice of mind " 1. what triggered that code and 2.if it was the hard acceleration why did i get that code this time and not in the past.
Sorry for the BOOK but " Im still learning" and hate for stuff to be not right.
Yea thats what i thought. EBPV tube and sensor are clean to my knowledge as i cleaned them both 2 weeks ago and no codes till i got on it this afternoon. I will clear them first thing in the morning. Im headed to the shop then into town for a few stops then home. I will post back with what i figure out.
Just weird I've had the BPS code before but it was because the tube and sensor were clogged. Replaced them both and it went away. Never had that code before. would like to know WHAT might have caused it
Ok this morning before started i cleared the code. Got in drove to my shop '' about 6mi'' right before i got there i had a long stretch so i opened her up again. Rolling @ 35mph i didn't hold it to the floor but fairly close about like i did last night up to about 70mph. Checked the codes when i pulled into the shop and there was no P0478 "Exhaust Pressure Control Valve High" but there was a P1211 "Injector Control Pressure Sensor Above / Below Desired" which I've had before upon high acceleration. Its probably my edge chip doing that " Which I'm getting rid of since my DP will be here Christmas " and my ICP sensor looks good as I've checked the plug connection and haven't seen any oil.
Well...I don't know what to tell ya...it is possible it was a fluke thing. If you didn't stab anything into the EBP sensor, damaging the diaphragm, then I don't know why that code would have popped up other than possibly a fluke. It sounds like things are going fine, but keep an eye on it. There's no harm on opening it up once in a while. I think it needs it to blow out the cobwebs now and then. Post back here if it arises again.
