Hello Guys, The 95 F250 Single cab I bought back in the end of January is having a glow plug problem. I picked the truck up off a guy that bought if off a local landscape company.
In the begin of Feb. I out 8 New glow plugs in it. They where Ford ZD-10's. I also put a new Napa GPR109 relay on it. It worked good for the first month or so. I decided to sell it to a good friend to get a Super duty. MISATKE!!!!!!
So hear I am trying to figure out what wrong with it. When you turn the key on the relay doesn't Click. Thought maybe the relay crapped out. So I got another one from napa under warranty and installed it to find nothing. I have power to the glow plug side of the relay.
Testing with a test light: Hooked to ground. Key on. It lights up one the 2 little tabs and the big one from battery. Not the one for gp's. If I do it the other way. Test light hooked to positive side it only light up on the gp side of the relay.
I'm not sure what I'm missing but it something. Wait to start light come on in the cab.
One of the small terminals is battery volts from fuse 22. The other small wire is pulled to ground by the PCM. Hook up your test light across the small wires & lugs and if it lights up then the PCM is trying to activate the relay. Of course you need to do this with the truck somewhat cold.
Testing you can always disconnect both small wires then on one of the small lugs jumper to battery plus and ground the other small lug. The relay should activate .. if not then the relay is bad.
