Hopefully this hasn't been covered and I missed it...
I have a 2005 Expedition with the factory nav system. While we lived in a place where I knew my way around...and didn't NEED the nav system, it worked just fine...but now that we've moved to a new city/state, every time I put in the disk, I get "focus error," even though it plays a CD just fine.
A focus error means the player is having trouble reading the disk. Have you tried cleaning the lens in the player or cleaning the back of the DVD disk?
Yes, I've cleaned the disks that are problematic...some work, but not all. I've run the lens cleaner a couple of times...no help.
I took it to the local dealership for troubleshooting. They had no idea since it works with some disks but not others...and plays CD's just fine. Recommended replacing the head unit (about $600 and the disks. (another $250)
