engine codes

i just had a code reader put on my 93 F150 5.0L 2WD and it cameup with 2 codes.they were 327 and 332. i think 332 is caused by the other since both are egr related. my question is where is the egr valve located and how do i go about checking it for proper function?
also i heard about making sure vacumm port is clear. what do i need to do just shove a coat hanger in it to clear it?
thanks Don

The egr is the round "UFO" looking object on the passenger front side of the motor. It's right next to the throttle body, it should have a grey sensor on top with three bolts and a vacuum line attached. You can remove the egr relatively easy. Just unhook the sensor and vacuum and unbolt it from the pipe. I would suggest using something like speedo cable and throttle cleaner to clean out the pipe. The plunger on the egr itself should work, however they seem to simply go out on higher mileage Ford motors around this era. I have replaced at least 4 myself, including my '93 F-150. The sensor rarely goes out, however a auto parts store such as autozone can test it. Otherwise clean the egr out with the throttle body cleaner. It will be full of carbon if it's never been cleaned before.

don't forget the solenoid device on the driver's side , with vacuum ports and electrical connection, which controls the diaphram of the EGR. This item is non serviceable as I am aware, there is a small disk/valve inside that should be free , I can hear mine "rattle" if I shake it. I understand this is normal. They can get dirt inside, as you will see a filter on top if you remove the cover. One of your codes could be this device also. p.s. I tried getting my EGR valve off one time and coulnd't move the big nut that holds the pipe on. So I just left it. Didn't want to break the casting. But I may start soaking these threads with some kind of thread penetrater, I'm wondering about the carbon build up in mine, as the previous poster mentioned.

well i took your advice and cleaned the tube that screws onto the egr valve i didnt remove tube i just sprayed a bunch of carb cleaner in it and let it sit a while also checked plunger on egr valve to make sure it moved freely. semmed to help cause most of my hesitation is gone now and seems to run cooler. so lets move on to 634 code. i heard that manual position lever sensor can be adjusted what would be the proper way to adjust if that is all that it is?
Thanks Don
