I drive a '07 SD 6.0 with 137,000. Bought it for pulling camper. Was in mountains and blew engine. Now it has a '05 engine with 100,000 miles. Camper was a 13,000 5th wheel. Not sure what happened, mechanic said either the computer went bad and fouled fuel injector #7 or something made injector stick open. End result $7000.00. Is there something I can do to watch engine like scan gauge or something. Like the truck and want to keep it, but now gunshy on driving it.
I'm not nearly the expert that some on this forum are, but here's my 2 cents.
As long as you keep the fluid levels up and do maintenance at least as scheduled, it should last a looong time. I had a 93 f250 ec 4X4 and put over 200k miles on it when it was stolen, then a 99 f250 ec 4X4 with close to 250 K on it when I got tired of pushing the clutch and upgraded to an 05 f250 crew 4X4 which now has 230k on it.
If your state allows it, I suggest the EGR delete and definitely the $50 blue spring fuel pressure update. The blue spring can be done by anyone that knows which end of a ratchet to hold in about an hour or less, EGR, a little longer, maybe half a day.
