6.0 help!

i have an 06' F250 with about 120,000 miles on it and i have owned it since about 95,000. i have put three new injectors in since i bought it and am worried that this will continue to happen for the life of the truck. what are some things i can do to take care of the injectors now? this is my first diesel but pretty much everyone i know owns one. i am also thinking about putting in an egr delete kit to take another worry away. is this a good idea? or should i just try to dump this truck and get something thats not a 6.0. Thanks!

Have you figured out why your losing injectors? Low fuel pressure? Wrong oil? How did you figure out which three had gone bad? Bone stock truck, or have you done some mods to it?

Wither you delete the EGR cooler or block it off is up to you. Personally the one on my truck will stay there until it fails...then I may do something different.

I have no clue why, i had two replaced because everytime i started it when it was cold it sounded like it was going to come apart but ran ok when warmed up. so i took it into the dealship where i bought it and they said i had two injectors out. Then about two weeks later i was driving at about 50 when it started bogging down and smoking so i pulled over and it shut down, when i tried to restart the truck a cloud of white smoke blew out and it wouldnt run. the dealership said that a different injector had stuck open flooding it with fuel. thanks for the advice on the EGR.

tats bull crap. every tom dick and harry knows full well tat white smoke is NOT because of fuel. tat dealership dont know what they are talking about. white smoke is cos of coolant. tats ur first major sign.

come to tink of it, u may not even have had the original problem when u brought it in to have 2 injectors changed. the real problem may have been a busted oil cooler or egr cooler or both, or maybe jus the "egr cooler hose to oil cooler" hose is damaged and leaking. coolant leaks between oil cooler and egr cooler takes a while before the whole car crashes.

seems like tat dealership's service advisor or techdont know wat he / she was talking about. take ur truck away from there.

Dom white smoke can also be unburnt fuel and it stinks like fuel.

I've had LOTS of 2003s in for that issue too. And if it's stuck open it WILL just REEK of raw fuel.

yes fellas. sorry i forgot bout tat part. however, most of the issues wif white smoke usually points to oil cooler / egr cooler failure and coolant leak of some sort, big or small.

wat got me tinking is the weird fact tat the OP's got seemingly constant injector failure. there must be an underlying reason.

come to tink bout it, i'd check the stc fitting, dummy plugs & standpipes to ensure it aint on its last leg.

maybe something else clogged up somewhere? maybe the fuel rail? also, could a bad ficm be the cause of the OP's injector failure?

Welcome to FTE BenRoot As with any used vehicle you take a chance so here are some things to help you along.

Oil is the first concern, keep it fresh and clean, what have you been using?

Injectors are checked after the truck is cold, the technician will do an injector imbalance test to see how the injectors are working, was this done?

The fuel injection control module FICM has been an item of concern, this should be looked at. Fuel pressure should be checked to make sure the injectors are not being deprived of fuel.

Do you use a fuel additive? Who does the maintenance? Fuel filters in good condition?

Your information is good, but your obvious intentional grammatical errors and ebonics make your posts otherwise useless.

I had an injector crack on me back in September...lots of white/grey smoke out the tailpipe. I couldn't tell you why it cracked...but it just happens. I know that's not what you want to hear as an answer. I'd double check your fuel pressure & make sure your using the right spec oil & filters.

I use a Fuel additive that i bought at the dealership, made by ford. And i just changed my fuel filters. The first thing the service guys said was that is was the egr cooler that went out. Not untill they took it apart and then tested the injectors did they find that one had stuck open. They are honest family friends not just some stangers so yes i will trust the dealership, they would not be dishonest to anyone. its a small dealer in a small town. as for the oil...im considering switching to amsoil. i know thats another can of worms also
