I ordered a spare set of door handles to paint and they turned out pretty good, but I ran into some trouble on the install. My driver side front door will no longer open. I had no trouble with the other 3 so I'm not sure what I did wrong. I will try to explain what happens:
If I hit the unlock button on the remote/put in the code on the door, the lock on the inside will pop up. As soon as I grab the door handle, it falls halfway back down and doesn't allow me to get in. The door opens fine from the inside. Also, if I open it from the inside and then close it, I can open it from the outside. I'm not sure what is going on. Maybe I messed with the rod that connects to the lock cylinder? That is the only difference on this handle as opposed to the other 3 so that's what I'm thinking. If anyone could tell me where I messed up that would be great. Thanks!
I think your on the right track thinking that the rod is not in the
right place. What you need to do is check the rods that you removed
when you replaced the handle. If you still can't get it working send me
a PM and I try and get some inside the door photos for you.
Basically what I'm trying to figure out is if I messed up the rod the goes to the lock cylinder, or the rod that goes to the handle itself. Its a real PITA getting the rod out of the lock cylinder, so I'd like to "guess and check" as little as possible.
