oil slinger?

im rebuilding my 400 in my 79 f100, i dont remember if it had an oil slinger or not but i cant find it if it did, i cant find one anywhere online so do i absolutley have to have one or can i do without?

sorry, the oil slinger on the front of the crankshaft next to the timing chain sprocket

Im going to go with no you dont need one.. i dont think iver ever seen anything like youre describing. I just had 2 400's apart and neither one have anything on the front of the crank besides timing chain sprocket and harmonic balancer.

The Ford basic part number for the crank oil slinger is 6310. In the parts list for the 351M-400 it doesn't show a part number for the slinger, so the 400 didn't use one.
