Hey y'all, re-built my fuel bowl last week and when i took the heater out it basically fell apart. I was able to tie wire it back up fairly good as i didn't know if this was a critical part " New one on order". SO hoping to limp by i have had no issues. I remember in the rebuild instructions it stating that the FB heater is linked to the PCM fuse. If the FB heater shorts it will blow that fuse causing the truck not to start.
Ive ran it quite a bit with no trouble at all with the wired up heater in the bowl.
Haven't ran it since last fri, i have been at home with the FLU since sat morning. Feeling a lot better today i walk out to run to the store turn the key over waited till the dinger went off " my wifes picture is in the right corner where the wts light is" and she turned over strong but never fired up. Also my Edge Evo monitor said "PCM NOT RESPONDING "
Dose This sound like the PCM Fuse ? If so where is it located at?
If its blown i will replace it and should i un-plug the heater from the back of the bowl? If i do how long can i run with the thing unplugged? is it ok or not? i don't want to hurt anything.
Location would be dependent on year model, it's the fuse for the PCM relay, not really the PCM.
You will be fine to run it until you get your parts, or even if you choose not to replace it. Leaving it unplugged outside the fuel bowl though, does not give you a WIF, if it ever arises. That's why I suggest unplugging it inside the bowl and leaving the outer unplugged.
I lost the #30 fuse a couple years ago due to a worn wiring harness over the DS VC. If you unplug the fuel bowl heater and #30 pops again at Key-On, might check there and at the DS shock mount. Just giving you some ammo beforehand in case you need it and the fuel bowl heater isn't the culprit.

Awesome advice, hope its just the heater causin it. If its the harness then with the time i been out sick bet the damn squirrels got in there. If so were gavin a squirrel killin round her.....

Edit: Fuse 30 or 19 IIRC.
Yep u nailed it. #30 fuse which is a 30A " INSIDE THE CAB" was BLOWED ! And my luck i don't have one. Headed to Wally now....... Post back with results
Thanks for all the help Al , Just got home from Wally got a 5 pac of 30s and will be putting them in my electrical kit in my tool box. Im almost positive it was the heater in the bowl that caused it to blow. When i took it apart last week the small round looking things that are on the wire connecting it to the plate first fell off the plate then fell off the wire. I wire tied down the wire that has the connecter on it to the plate to limp by so I'm shure thats what caused it to blow.
I will install the fuse in the morning and see where we go. If i don't post back I'm back up and on the road. Thanks again Al and everyone for the awesome quick help !
