The fuse for the fuel bowl heater is not #30 on the 02 models. Does his WTS light come on? That's usually the sign for a blown heater. I can check my manual in the morning if no one comes up with an answer tonight (off to bed now).
Usually clicking relays are a voltage issue. Has he load tested the batteries? Need to find out what that fuse controls. If it's listed as PCM and is a 30 amp, it could very well be the fuel bowl heater.
Yeah, it sounds like you are. I usually have that info at my finger tips, but I'm on a different PC doing some work. If it IS the fuel bowl, disconnect it at the back of the bowl and it will keep that fuse from blowing if it's the problem.
Fuel bowl heater was solid. Now he can't get the problem to repeat. He says in the info he's getting on their ASE sites says 22 is not the fuel bowl heater. It's IDM/IPR???? Does that make sense? I'm stumped on this one cuz I thought for sure the fuel bowl heater would be flinging around in there. So we're still open for suggestions.
Where is everyone getting 02 truck from? I must have missed that. If he cannot get it to repeat, then he probably has bad/low batteries and is somehow masking it now. It will return if that was it.
What year truck is it? Who is puling the codes and with what? No other symptoms to speak of?
The workshop manual says fuse 22 is for fuel injectors and the PCM 20 amp on the 02 model. I have difficulty finding things in the wiring section, so more research is required to be of any more help. The owners manual just lists Engine Control.
Edit: fuel bowl heater seems to be tied to Fuse 116 on the 02 model.
If I read this right, fuse 22 is Brake pressure switch, MIAH, IPR, GPR? Need some other input to see if I'm reading this right, or even found the right diagram.
Cody, have him check and see if there is possibly something grounding the GPR solenoid hot lug, or if something is grounding the MAIH solenoid hot lug.
Isnt there also a fuseable link in those 4ga wires?
