Best head gasket ?

Is there a better head gasket to use in my rebuild? I will be running about 20psi and just wanted to know if some are better than others

i used Fel-Pro recently when i did mine. no leaks yet(knock on wood!)lol.

the prep you do to the block surface and the head is far more important than the head gasket.

Fel pro or victor rienz are the two good ones. IIRC one is slightly better than the other, but the difference is very small. I would get whichever is easier / cheaper to come by. As long as you have studs you should be good. Are you planning on running a re-ground cam?

Not to take anything away from russ but i would look at either racins or NMB2s cam for a turbo application. More low end / midrange, racin, mid-range top-end, nmb2. Just my .02

Mike, You are right on, but I would also tuck Russ' cam in there and say its good for an N/A truck or something with lower boost numbers...Not one cam is all around better than the other, but they are all better for their particular ranges...

depends on how you run the truck though.take a look at that dyno slip again with all the cams grafted together.Russ has the cam id be putting in mine, should i ever need to pull the engine for something.

You would be right judging on existing dyno slips... However, wait til my cam hits the dyno, we shall see what she does... And I am confident ...

What dyno sheets are we talkin about here?

If you plan on doing more than the typical 10-15lbs i would strongly advise at least a stg 1 cam in order to help with excessive cylinder pressure.

but now that i see racins last reply,i see things might have changed.looking forward to it.
there you can see the cam in Russ's truck is the clear winner for a street/tow rig.the power is right where your engine runs most of it's time.
really,we know the idi does much better when talking anyway.where she could use a bit more hp is the lower rpms,so you won't need to make her talk so much when towing/uphill.least to me,for pure economy reasons alone is enough to see it wins.never mind having a more enjoyable crisp response right in normal dd activity.

Thanks for the better brands of head gaskets. Anouther question t3 or t4 turbo? I was thinking of the t3 for faster spooling. RacinNdrummin I sent you back a message but not sure if it went through.

It depends on how much boost you want. A t3 has a built in wastegate and a t4 doesn't. On the other hand, if you are welding your own setup any you can always use an external wastegate as well. IMO I would go with the t3 for better spool.

T3 framed turbos can supply all the air we need for these things, but they are getting at their limit on the upper end... You can run a T4 hot wheel in a T3 housing... Thats what my big turbo upgrade is... So basically you get a wastegated T4 turbo... Only drawback is the housing sizes are small and dont flow anywhere near the amount a T4 housing does...
