Ok first of all, this is my first time ever on this website. I have had this bronco for a year and a half. Very clean and runs decent but having TRANSMISSION PROBLEMS!
Ok, my problem. The truck will almost max out and then a late hard shift. Im not sure out of second gear because i dont do much highway driving.
I changes the vacuum modulator on the transmission because fluid leaked out of it and the vacuum hose.
What could be the problem. I am thinking the vamuum line might be clogged or collapsed or simply torn, not attatched, but I dont know where it runs to on the engine.
So what do you think is wrong and please tell this stupid ford rookie where the vacuum line runs from the modulator. Thanks!
The replacement modulators have an adjustment screw inside. I would try bottoming it out, then back it out 2 or 3 turns, test drive the truck and make adjustments until it shifts properly. The vacuum line should go to a constant vacuum source on the intake manifold. Check the rubber sections of the vacuum line for cracks or holes, this will cause late shifting as well... hope this helps!

The adjustment screw is inside the tube when you pull the vacuum line off, it should be a slotted head. If the old modulator was leaking you could be low on ATF, that will also cause late shifting.
