I just got back from Moutire Ga and picked up my new bed kit from Hot Rod's. Rod and Denise are good people. The kit looked realy good. It is hard to look at new sheet metal when you have been working with old stuff. I picked up some other stuff too.
So now to get the bed installed. Not sure if I want to weld the front panel or bolt it. I know the the old one was riveted. I f anyone has some idea's please jump in. All so would it not be better to do it all on the truck?
I has been about three years and man was there alot to see. I did not get to see everything because the wife was not feeling good. Did not see alot of old ford truck parts, but like I said did not get to every place. We went Friday and Sat. Just picked up the bed and some other stuff and left. I was cool but was warming up Sat.
I screwed mine together at the bottom as the top is secured with bolts, but if you ever intend to carry anything (dirt, mulch...) then you will need to really secure it.
I put mine together on the floor, then set it on the chassis and squared it up.

I use panel adhesive...no holes, no welding, no warped panels, no future rust issues.
I use 3M adhesives and seam sealants. There are other vendors who supply comparable products but I started with 3M and I have never been disappointed with the quality or performance of their products. 3M Panel Bonding Adhesive 08115
If you do a search on "08115" you will find some of my posts (with photos) where I have discussed how I have used this adhesive.
