I am about to upgrade my factory shocks to the Rancho 9000XL's on my 2005 Excursion 4x4 (EB). I am also getting the My Ride Wireless Controller. I think I have figured out where I'm going to mount the controller (outside passenger side frame rail), but I can't figure out where the best place is to tap into a "Key-on" 12 volt line to power it.
Any advise on the mounting or powering would be greatly appreciated.
Welcome to the forum. I have the same vehicle and mounted my controller just on the firewall just above and to the right of the brake cylander. Beauty of this mount is that when it pumps up you can hear it buzz and you can hear it release air too. Lets you know its working. If I remember right, the instructions tell where to tap. I tapped mine on the fuse box inside and under the steering wheel. Don't remember of hand which number. Its one of the lowest ones. I would have to look tomorrow when I get home. Good luck. It's all easy to install, take your time and watch out for pinch points. Oh, and do yourself a favor and buy lots and lots of tie wraps.
Is there anyway you can show us the pictures of the pump and controller installed on the fire wall near the brake cylinder? I can't find space larger enough to attach the pump on inside the engine bay. I ended up installed both on the driver side connect firectly to the driver side battery. The instruction did not really show where to tap in for the key on...
Here are pics of my setup. First pic shows controller on firewall, green arrow. Just to the right of it on the inner fenderwell is the compressor, red arrow. I think I misspoke earlier and said compressor was on firewall. Anyway, with it mounted here I can hear it pump up and blow off air to raise and lower pressures.

Second pic shows where I tapped the fuses. I went to fuse 25 which I think is the rear wiper. Chose it because I rarely use it and it is powered with key in on position. Was quick and easy. I may reroute it to another key on fuse. Working for the past year with no problems.
Thanks for the pics they really help...
If the red wire to the fuse in the middle is your connection then its Fuse #39 which (according to my 05 EX Owners Guide) is for the Trailer Tow Back Up Lamps. That should be good for me as none of my trailers have back up lamps anyway.
I will have to find the small wire-to-fuse connector you used.
I recently upgraded all of my interior lights to LED and blew #41 so putting this at #39 should be fine. I'm in the process of upgrading all lights to LED (except dash and Headlights) so when I get done (December '12) I will post something that will hopefully help someone else.
My tap is at #25 for the rear wiper. It is now laying horizontally to allow the cover to close. this may be throwing off the view. I have a 2005 Ex w/ 6.0
After getting my kit in the mail and looking more closely at your photos, I think we are both wrong. The fuse you are hooked to is #21 which is 25A for the rear wiper (must be where you got the 25 from). I also don't use the rear wiper as I live in the woods on a dirt road and the glass will get scratched too easily.
I am working on an instruction list for the complete install (not sure if FTE will allow me to post pics) and I will post it on this thread when I'm done. Thanks again for the help on this...
Ha, I think your right. I was darn close though. Glad to be of help, good luck and post them pics when you're done.
One more tip I just remembered. When I mounted controller and compressor, I used short self tapping sheetmetal screws. Didnt want to drive through the firewall or fender. Very bad. Also, I didn't cinch down hard on the controller screws. I left the controller a bit loose to try and reduce vibration. It sits tight on the insulation. You'll see what I mean when you get into it.
I finally finished the install of the 9000XL's and My Ride. I had to send one of the rear shocks back as it would not open unless you pulled it open. The other three worked fine.
I ended up creating another thread listing all of the installation procedures. I also used #42 in the fuse panel as it is labeled as 15A Delayed Accessory. I verified that it does not have power when key is off and does when on.
I checked #21 and it does have power even when the key is off so kawika904 you might want to move it to #42. I posted a pic in the other thread.
I have learned a lot from the other members of this site and I hope that I am able to offer something to a person just starting out with their own mods.
