I have a 99.5 f250 that has a tekonsha voyager brake controller in it. I bought the truck used and it came with the controller installed. Today is the first time I have tried to use it and it isn't working. I'm wondering where to start looking to figure out why it's not working. The little light on the controller has never lit up, I thought maybe it would with the trailer hooked up but no luck.
I read somewhere that the controller should have a fuse under the hood but I don't have any idea what one (if any) should be checked. Also between the brake master cylinder and the power distribution box there is a small box that looks like it should have two relays in it. Are these for the controller? Or maybe for a option the truck doesn't have?
/www.tekonsha.com/tevoyagerintro.html Will have the information about wiring on the right side of the page. Most installers use circuit breakers but some use fuses. I would look to see if the hot wire is unhooked from the battery!
If the Voyager turns out not to work, its almost doing you a favor. Buy a Prodigy and forget about it, the amount of difference between the 2 is mindblowing, and the Prodigy is only 100 bucks or so anyway.

Well I just followed the wires from the controller and they plug in to the factory Ford harness. So I checked out the Ford owners manual, it has a giant fuse under the hood for the controller. It's fine.
I then looked at the tekonsha web site and from what I can tell the trailer must have a open circuit somewhere or not wired correctly causing the controller to fail.
On the 250SD the relay box is a little box hanging on the left side (as viewed from the front of the truck) of the PDB that houses only these two relays... On my truck, in the PDB box, position 26 (trailer brakes) is the center row, 2nd fuse from the firewall... Position 16 is the left side (looking from the front of the truck) and the 4th fuse from the firewall... The relay closest to the firewall is the battery charge and the forward relay is the trailer tow backup relay... The backup relay puts 12 volts on the centerpin of the 7 pin connector for trailer backup lights when the gearshift lever is put into reverse...
That was a page from another site that helped me get my trailer brake going. If ya need more help i have all kinds of stuff saved on my pc that may help ya out.
Some of what i posted may not apply to u, I just cut and pasted a bunch of stuff
A regular 12v test light between the brake pin in the plug and a good ground will light the indiactor on the controller. Then as you aplly the brake or activate the slider the test light will light in relation to the amount of brakes applied. The brake pin is in the number 2 position in the plug or the blue wire. This pin is located at the 5 o'clock position in the truck plug. I added a drawing of the plug.
