GPR ISSUES - WHY NOT SSR
I seem to read a lot about GPR troubles with faulty contacts, corrosion, ETC.
Why not silicon controlled relays? Sometimes called SSR's. No moving parts, nothing to corrode (except exposed terminals) and are available in many configurations. All ranges of trigger voltages AC & DC and current capacity well over 1K amps. Plenty for our applications. Company I worked for years ago used them to fire high temperature furnaces and had to use water cooled mounting plates, but for a minute or two a couple of times a day should be no problem with a simple mounting plate. Just did a little research but the sites I looked at wanted me to be a company so I could not get any further.
Any interest?
Mike
