In an earlier thread I stated that I was experiencing Erratic starting issues with my f-250 6.0. I was told the FICM was bad and had it replaced ($1200.00). I replaced both batteries myself ($200.00). A few days later, No start. I was then told I had 2 bad injectors And was quoted $1300.00 to replace. I was not happy with my initial service and thought a second opinion was warranted. I took my truck to the dealership, where they confirmed 2bad injectors was the cause of the starting issue. I had them replace injector 3 & 5 and also had them install the Blue Spring along with new stand pipe and dummy plug. ($1300.00). 4 days later I was stranded when again my truck would not start. The truck was towed to the dealership again where they told me I now have an air leak on my driver side valve cover. After further inspection I was told I would now need new stand pipe and dummy plug on driver side. They also told me I may have 2 more injectors going bad and that I may want to replace. I did not like where this was going , but also felt I was stuck and gave the go ahead to make the repairs ($1300.00). An hour later Ford called and said I also had an stc fitting at the HPO leaking ($650.00)...........Is this even possible...........I am bleeding money
I've seen more then once where fixing a HPO leak in one spot can create another leak. Never once would I only do one side dummy plugs and stand pipes anyways.
TO the OP, you could have sent the ficm out to be improved for about $250. Two injectors and plug/pipe per side should be about $900 a side. The STC price isn't to out of line though...
Three shops I was aware of or did business with. All three of them are hurting for diesel techs with experience.
Would they hire a Canadian on a temporary part-time basis? I sure could use a good vacation to somewhere warm with lots of hotties with big hooters to look at.
It really bothers me that in the beginning my hpo tested good. I didn't have any leaks until after the the first set of injectors were installed. It is also very troublesome that in one week only injectors 3 & 5 tested bad ( by 2 different shops). And then 3 days later 2 more are testing bad.......Really?
