Did Shell buy out Texaco world wide??
Cause the closest Town near me that has Company named gas, all the Texaco's are now Shell..This happen in anyone elses area...I usely go to this small one, a mom and pop gas station, but was just wondering...
Shell bought out Teaxaco, well most of it, Texaco only has like 1 out of every 10 stations it used to have, and I think Exxon took a bite out of the pie also.
shell bought texaco, pennsoil and quaker state last year in june. slowly started swiitching over name brands. within a year all texaco stations will be switched to shell
According to my fuel card issuer, Shell took over 85% of the Texaco gas stations. Because of this, my Texaco card was cancelled, and I was issued a Shell Card, which is fine by me, because Shell is usually cheaper than Texaco.
I used to have an Amoco card, but they got taken over by somebody else, and BP took over their cards. So now I have a Shell card, a BP card, and a Diamond Shamrock card that cover about 15 different gas stations.
I forget how exactly this worked out but here goes to the best of my memory. Texaco had bought interest in Shell and all Shell station then became Texaco's.
Then when Chevron bought Texaco but not the Shell interest, Chevron allowed Shell to keep the Texaco name for 2 years. Now that 2 years is up and all Texaco's will become Shell stations again. See I could use my Shell or Texaco card at either store. I just received a letter stating that my Texaco card would no longer be any good and that I would be able to use my Shell card at those stations in the future.
Have I got you guys confused yet?
Well I tried to explain it the best way I could
Texaco merged into Chevron, now it's ChevronTexaco.
The Texaco stations are franchises operated by independant dealership's. Texaco and Shell were partner's in a joint venture called EQUILON. The dealership's had two years to decide to become dealer's for another brand or continue with the remaining EQUILON partner, Shell. Thus remodeling their stations in Shell decor.

where do you get a diamond shamrock card?
The Diamond Shamrock card is the easiest fuel card to obtain. First, Find a Diamond Shamrock service station, with pay at the pump facilities. Insert any of your fuel cards and buy gas. There is a notice somewhere in all DS gas stations that to use a competitors card is infact evidence of application for and agreement with a Diamond Shamrock Charge Account.
I got mine in Colorado years ago, when I didn't live in the mid south.
