FYI, if you get the EGT kit from Dashboss, you need to hook up the ground between the pigtail and the amplifier. The instructions on DB forum say otherwise.
With the EGT kit from DashBoss, you need to hook up the ground wire. You can set the EGT up in the Config screen, I use 0v=32*F for the low and 5v=2282*F for the high.
Installation was the same as the first amplifier I used, connect the EGT probe to 5v amplifier, then use a 12v power supply, one ground wire DashBoss pigtail/wires and spliced off to chassis ground also, and one 5v output wire that goes to the DashBoss pigtail/wires.
The EGT I used originally in that write up was a cheap basic 5v amp. When I hooked up the ground with this unit, it caused a ground loop.
I'll have to find time to do another write up when using the DashBoss EGT kit.
So I got my Dashboss and I didn't like it. First, I don't like the fact that you have to pair the Dashboss with your phone manually every time you start the engine. Second, the phone holder doesn't fit on my dash properly so it's a waste. That being said, the functionality of the App was good and very straight forward. I did notice that my boost pressure would not give a reading when I pushed the accelerator all the way to the floor aggressively. I contacted support and returned the package yesterday.

I must say that I can see your argument as I had similar doubts, with the dashboss, I usually fiddle with it and get it to the right screen to see what I want to monitor, , then I start trying to figure out what would be the best layout for the screen gauges , I.e if I want the coolant temps right next to the oil temps and if I want the Vgt % right next to boost. Then I start thinking what alerts I want setup and if the < means lesser or greater than and end up just selecting = for each, usually I think how cool this device is and how amazing modern technology is, then I lose track of why I got into the truck or where I was even going. But I must say it is a very neat tool and has its usefulness. So if you already have a scangauge 2 this device is certainly different than the that. Although I think the data logging capabilities are very cool and I like it. Maybe I am too used to the scangauge. Even though it looks like a calculator it works very well. On the other hand you don't have to do any programming like the scangauge 2. This determines the vehicle you are connected to and lists what it can monitor by selecting which is cool. If only it would work on my other vehicles, but they aren't CAN.it is still growing on me. I am liking it more I use it

The App itself is very user friendly and it has a ton of options. However, having to reconnect the bluetooth every time is too much of a hassle for me. I don't have a SGII but I plan on checking it out.

Too bad... that was an issue with your phone and not DashBoss

The EGT instructions on the DB site are for a different EGT 5v amp. It is a cheap $20 5v amp that does work, but I feel the readings are too jumpy for my taste.
Totally two different 5v amps and different wiring procedures.
Don't think it was my phone since it auto connects with the bluetooth systems in my other two vehicles. However, I didn't try the fix that Ken talks about in the post you hyperlinked. I can't remember the instructions verbatim, but I believe they state you have to manually connect it each time. Maybe wdglide can weigh in since he should still have the instructions that came with the Dashboss he just received.

Did you update the gateway adapter when you received it? If you recently loaded the DashBoss App the Gateway would have been sent with an older profile.

There is no need to manually connect the bluetooth. The instructions IIRC say you only have to go through the pairing one time, after that its automatic. I just get in and turn on the app after a moment.
However, I have lost connection a time or two and manually reconnected for the heck of it. So far, loosing the connection never happened when cruising- only when its in my lap and I am messing with the settings.
