Which Banks Headers?
My '04 SD V10 4x4 6 speed manual pickup has broken manifold studs that are needing to be replaced. I had the problem also on my Excursion and the repair costs were well over $1000. Since I'm looking at another large repair bill I'm seriously considering having the Banks headers installed. How do I determine which cat converter I have (early or late) and whether or not I have EGR? Since the headers are for 99-04 I would think my cat would be a late model but how do I know about EGR?

I dont think replacing the cat is required if you were just swapping to headers.
I dont have an egr on mine, but understand if i did, there would be a tube on the driver side manifold routed somewhere toward the throttle body

After I posted I went out and looked my V10 over on the truck and could find any sign of an EGR valve or it's connection to the manifolds. From this I think I don't have EGR and will order my headers accordingly. I'm not changing the cat but Banks make their headers for both "early" and "late" versions of the cat and have different part #'s. I would assume since the headers are for "99-04" that my cat would be the "late" model cats.
. Best i've come up with on them is auto anything with the 15% discount, and i didnt notice the cat option there.
