I HAVE A 2003 F350 KR ..I changed my fuel filters a couple of weeks ago and had no problem until today..went up town and came out of store and fuel all over ground andmotor..small fuel filter leaking tightned more and it stopped...does anyone know WHY it would start to leak out of the blue??since then changed both fuel filters again..drove for 10 miles no leaks...under hood silincer(apron) was ans is soaked with deisel...removed do I need on under the hood???new one cost 300 bucks..what could I attempt to clean with ???any thoughts??? with many thanks in advance...winemaker
The leak is probably caused by a cut o-ring or a crack in the fuel filter cap. I would replace the o-ring first.
Lubricate the o-ring with engine oil and replace it. Tighten the filter cap so that the cap seats on the filter housing. The seal is provided by the o-ring and not by tightening the tar out of the filter cap.
Check the cap when doing the o-ring replacement. If cracked, replace it. Make sure that you *do not* use the 1/2" square in the cap to tighten it. Use a properly fitting socket instead.

lou..use socket to tighten cap...I think cap was slightly loose or rubber o ring was streatched..put new filters in and so far does not leak..do you have any thoughts how to cleanup hood insulator..ask dealer they had no idea what happened.winemaker
Go find your self some Aviation grade Simple Green. Spray the liner and
let it sit for a few minutes and then hose off. The Aviation grade Simple Green
is not green and does not smell like the green stuff. But it really cleans and
will not cause damage to aluminum parts.
The place to buy it is a pilot supply or aircraft parts store or you can order it online.
I would also check out Granger and you should be able to get it there also.
