I just bought a 2001 f250, 7.3, 4x4, auto. It already has egt, boost, and trans guages. Also K&N intak and MBRP 4" form turbo into duals. The EGT probe is in the down pipe. I want to move it to the driver manifold. But I do not know the size drill bit or tap. Also where do I put it in the manifold. Does anyone have pics? Thanks
Welcome to FTE. Yeah there are write ups on it. Well the size would depend on the probe. Should be 1/8in. npt, but I'll post back the size mine is. I used ISSPRO gauges. Most put it on the bottom rear of the driverside manifold. Good move relocating it, as there are several hundred degrees difference. I guess you know that since your moving it. Guys will jump in with links for you. I'd do it but I'm a computer tard.
EDIT: (R) drill bit, 1/8in tap, thats what mine was. Check yours. Joined 2009 and 1 post?
I have read post on the "R" drill bit and 1/8 bit. I was not sure if they were all the same size. I can not find on bullydogs web site. I have not posted because after I Set up my account I sold my 1997 Stroker. The location on the manifold, can i just drill the bottom of it? Laying under the truck looking up at the manifold before the coupling?
RiffRaff sells a drill bit and tap as a kit for this purpose, makes it easy. Prolly a new thermocouple too, give them a call. As for the job, drill it dry, without oil or grease. Then it is easy to suck out the shavings with a vacuum. Just look up and drill the manifold where it is easy to get to. A few shavings missed will just blow thru the turbo when you start it. No need to tap it too deep, try to keep the probe centered in the exhaust flow but no sense having the fitting intrude into the flow.
