Rev limiter questions

This is my first time on these forums and I just purchased my first diesel and manual vehicle! I've already tuned my 05 F250 with a livewire ts tuner and it runs like a champ but I was concerned about how far I can go with it. When I first purchased the truck i noticed i had no rev limiter and even after tuning it its not stopping where I set it (3600rpms) is there any way to set a limiter on a manual 05 f250? Or am I just missing something?

Your rev limiter should be set somewhere around 4100RPM's. 6.0l's spin pretty fast. Above 4500, and a rod will eventually go through the block. Have you asked your tuner about changing the setpoint?

Get ready to replace your head bolts with ARP studs and put new head gaskets in there if you're running a tuner! May want to bulletproof it too, while you're at it... The stock 6.0's don't stand up to tunes all that well from what I hear...

I wouldn't say don't worry, but mine has seen 4500+ more than a few times on the dyno.

Like I said I set my tuner to stop around 3600 RPMs but the truck will blow past that point. It doesnt seem like anything is limiting it.

Mine was right at 4300 on my 05 w/ the Zf6. I bumped it down a few when I tuned it.

I ended up going stock and still had no limiter. I proceded to put the performance tune back on and still nothing (I set it to 3600 rpms). But the fact that its a manual transmissions has absolutely nothing to do with it right?

May just be the tuner. I'm running an old edge tuner and it will change the rev limiter.
