Hey all. New to the site. Just picked up a 2000 F250 SD. im adding my indash dvd player and want to add a rear camera. It has the capability and ive ordered the camera. Now, how do i get it to turn on when i place the rig in reverse? Dumb question but need some smart people!
So its arrived. It has a 12v wire and thrle video input. My indash has a back up video in put then a wire that says reverse. Where do i hook the reverse wire up to?

As stated, splice into the reverse lights that is + and you're good to go.
Yea, after working on till 2 am in below freezing temps ill be running it through a toggle switch. Ive never been big on cutting factory wires. Especially when there 12and years old. I need to buy a longer video cord. The 20' cord it came with isnt enough. So ill just run the cameras power and negative up to the dash. Then i flip a switch tellng the camera its in reverse.

There's nothing wrong with cutting factory wires anywhere. Just make sure you solder and use heat shrink where you make your splices. I've done this on numerous trucks, including my own, never had an issue. I will say the toggle switch is nice for towing and whenever you wanna just see whats going on back there.

Yea, i like the idea of being able to use it without having to be in reverse.
