Sooo I have an 03 navi thats leaking trans from the radiator. I'm not sure why the trans fluid is routed through here. BUT heres my plan, what if i chopped the line from the trans and the cooler. Then connected them with rubber trans hose and compression fittings?
I see no reason besides extra dealer parts for the cooler to pass through the radiator.

You don't see any reason for tranny fluid to be cooled? Go ahead and eliminate that "unnecessary" cooler. If I were you though, I'd start putting $4K+ aside now for the replacement tranny.
Save yourself the headache of potential future trans issues and get a new radiator. I'm sure your local parts house has them or you can get one online for less then $200.
No no no..... I dont plan on eliminating the cooler. the trans cooler is in front of the radiator. There are hoses that go through the radiator to get to the trans cooler. I'm not to sure why they are routed this way.
I would like to route them under the radiator if its safe.
Ok so I've found that there is minor benifits to running through the radiator, and given the extreme temps I tend to live in. I have a new question, What part needs to be replaced. It looks like brass fittings going into the radiator. I tried to tighten them but they are already tight. If i grab the trans cooler lines and shake them where they meet the radiator there very loose.
So the reason the hoses are leaking is because the radiator is bad?
You didn't say hoses were leaking in your first post, you said the radiator was leaking. We're not there you are, so in order for us to give sound advice we need you to accurately describe what's going on.

Those are Quik Connect lines. The o-rings are prolly shot and are not sealing the connections. IIRC, the Quik Connects are aluminum and are prolly corroded - stuck to the radiator portion of the connector and frozen to the tranny line. You might just be better of putting in a new line with new connectors, or home brewing your own repair.
The trans cooler is in the radiator. In front of the radiator is the auxillary trans cooler. The aux cooler is part of the HD towing package.
They are routed that way so that the coolers are in series.
Thank you for droppin that on me! I've been searching every forum and site google would give. So it should be safe to say theres an o-ring inside of the aux hoses? I was under the impression that they where just AN fittings.
the fitting is tight but the hose is free to swivel around a lot.
So I'm guessing you have a leak at the fitting that threads into the radiator? And there is a threaded fitting on the flared line the threads into that fitting? There is no o-ring in there on my Expo, not sure about the Nav. Have you tried to tighten the fitting on the flared tube? Use 2 tools, one to hold the big fitting and one to turn the small fitting and see if that stops the leak. Spray it clean before you start the work to see if improved the problem.

Yea.. tried tighten, no luck. I'm think about pulling it out and see what i can do. Napa had no parts and no clue for me. Maybe i'll swing by the dealer.
In case anyone else has this problem I took the hoses off that go into the radiator and there was a very small orange color o-ring inside the brass fitting that the aux cooler hose ties into. I had to use a small mirror and a scribe to pull it out. No local parts store by me had a compatible o-ring. I'll be swinging by the dealer this week hopefully they have it.
