Careful with that, the airport gas we have where I live is leaded and it will kill your CAT. I don't have a CAT on mine so it doesn't really matter but I also don't need the octane boost right now. I want to add an SC to my V10, when I do that I might try some airport gas.

A factory gauge isn't going to tell you anything I don't believe. This isn't an A/F mixture question. Octane isn't a matter of going lean or rich, it is a matter of pre-igntion. Timing adjustment is most likely your only cure.

I do not have gauges yet, but as soon as I put the premium (90 octane) the detonation went away. Do any of you use octane boost?

Also what brand gauges are you guys using for boost, fuel pressure etc?

Thanks!

I have auto meter gauges in mine, got a three gauge pod for the A pillar. Boost, fuel pressure, and trans temp. They all work great and I love them.

I also agree with not using octane booster unless you HAVE to. I put about four gallons of 89 in my tank and worried about it for that whole tank even though I bought two bottles of octane booster just to make me feel better. I ALWAYS (except the one time mentioned above) put 91 in since that is the most I can get at a normal pump in Cali. Never heard detonation doing it this way but I know my tune is also pretty conservative which is why I used the tuner I did (a shop did it on a dyno, not just a canned one off the internet).

No Dyno in Kodiak, Alaska... No tuner's either... Hardly a reputable shop, so that is why I do most of my own work, and own mostly Fords, as there is a Ford Dealer w/ Shop in town.

mine is a little under the weather right now or I would.

As for a dyno, mine was on one when it was tuned but I do not have the sheet. It did better than what Paxton said it would be by 10-20 HP and 20-30ft lbs (this is all from memory since it's been about 7 years since it was on a dyno). My tuner has done a few of them and he said mine has put out the most of all the ones he has seen, said I must have gotten a ringer of an engine. Must not have been built on a Friday

The supercharged Ex got a facelift and tail lift today!

Now I need to get the springs done before April 15, so I can get the studded tires off, and either put the 33's or the 35's on it!

Just don't hit the brakes too hard. With all that weight in the chin it will do a headstand!

Altitude Adjustment!!!

Well, I just posted a few teaser's on the "what did you do today" thread, but here are alot more pics of the latest work to the 00 EX

Gained a Full 5 inches all the way around, rear is 1/2 higher that the front, Passengers side is 1/4 higher than drivers side. Clears the 35x12.5x16.5 BFG AT's nicely. I used to run these in the summer on my F350, but since getting the Camper and the 19.5 rims and tires for hauling the camper, I wasn't using these, and they have less than 5000 miles on the tires...

This is what I used...

B's in the rear with the 2 leaf mod from the Ex pack, with the slapper bar cut off, and a Pro Comp 5 inch Block

V's in the front with an Add-a-leaf designed for the rear installed under the two-leaf -pack, then a 3" mini pack under that.

Dropped Pitman Arm, and dropped Track Bar Bracket with adjustable track bar.

Bilstein 5100 shocks and steering stabilizer.

Drove it around yesterday in the afternoon, and re-torques the u-bolts. Drove it to work today, and will check the u-bolts tonight... And what you've all been waiting for! Pics!!

First Test Drive, and the day was so pretty we stopped at the Lookout to "Get pictures of the scenery..." Well some scenery, and some more of the Ex!!

Note the bunker in the cliff above the Ex. There are remnants all over Kodiak from WWII.

Then the much awaited "badges"

More pics after some more cleaning and detailing....

Sunrise this morning!!! Gotta Love a Sunny Day in Alaska!!!!
