1994 Ford 350. When you start the engine it idles high then comes down and seems okay. Then after driving awhile the idle goes up. The codes pulled are 311 Thermactor, 332 EGR insufficient flow, 411 and 412 both rpm related. So where do I start?
A side note the air bag light blinks 5 times then 1 time and stops. So it must be trying to
My guess would be egr valve or connections to it....I have a Diesel and 460 Carbed, so slap me now....But my last Van was a 4.9 six with Propane (Big Time POS) and when it flipped out on me like that , it was rusted ERG line....but I had to replace the assembly because it was too gone....
The engine is 5.7liter. Today I tried to operate the engine as if i had an egg under my foot. Trying to avoid the egr from being actuated. The van operated fine all day including runs up to 45 mph. Does the egr get actuated by simple vacumn? Is there any feedback from the egr telling the computer how far it is opened? Or is the TPS what tells the computer something about how the egr is operating?
Got around to putting an IAC in the van and it fixed the problem. Actually it was easy to get to from the front and the hump didn't have to be removed. I drove it a coupld days before declaring it fixed. No more high idling. The one I replaced was full of deposits.
