Well, I wish I could say I was the proud new owner of a wonderful 2006 silver E350 cargo van with the awesome 6.0 turbo-diesel that I purchased on Tuesday, but on my first drive back from a job today, it decided to die out while driving and will no longer stay running. It will start and idle for about 10 seconds and then just die out. It has almost 140k on the clock and was a meticulously maintained fleet vehicle in Texas with all the records and cleanliness to prove it.
I hooked up my code scanner, and I got 3 codes: P0403, P2614, P2617.
I understand that P2614 and P2617 are thrown when the truck stalls, and 0403 is from the egr. I'm assuming it is a faulty egr since i did not get the other codes for excessive flow, feel free to correct me if I'm wrong.
I will be taking a whack at it tomorrow morning because its about 110 outside now and this van wont fit in my air conditioned garage. I'm thinking early morning tear down. It seems like the van body makes it incredibly hard to get anything done in there, since I can hardly even see the egr.
Any advice on tackling this project, I already ordered a scangauge when i purchased it, too bad it didn't show up this morning... I will also be changing all of the fluids and filters along the way. I have also received the pdf for new 6.0 owners but cant seem to open it on my computer...bummer. I'll get it to work somewhere.
I get the feeling that tomorrow will be a long day. I will post pictures for you all. And please, any advise to get me through this will be greatly appreciated.
So i replace the fuel filters and changed the oil, it fired right up. So i went to the gas station, filled it up with fresh diesel and began driving to the parts store when it sputtered a bit and died. I was able to make it back home before it died while trying to park it.
So i started to set up my scan gauge, programmed some x guages and went to drive around the block. She started up fine , but then died really early and now i get absolutely nothing happening when I turn the key...fml. looks like its going to be a long weekend.
Going to go through the entire no start list and try to see whats going on...
Sounded like it may have been, but it was really hard to tell because it was not very loud. I hope i didn't make a very expensive mistake. I really cant tell now though, it wont even turn over, no starter click or anything, just dead...
Reverse lights and reverse beep is no longer working either with the key in the on position. I think it doesn't know its in park, any ideas?
Neutral safety switch maybe?

So i hooked up my scangaugeII, and i programmed in the transmission range. It came up 0 with the key on and did not change at all when shifting. Looks like I need a new transmission range sensor.
It worked these are the values I came up with when I moved the gear selector
transmission range sensor values
park=140
reverse=120
neutral=100
drive=92 and remained the same threwout the driving range 12356
3rd= 46
2nd=44
1st=42
I think this it it was supposed to come up 01234 but didnt its the volt value above
