I haven't had any plans to tune mine but yes, they make this difficult.
I may have to eat my words after 100,000.
It will depend on if I get the basic diesel care package before 100,000.

I got one from Pure Diesel Power (took 4 weeks) and a second one from Snyder in just 2 days. They showed up on the same day. Get it from Snyder.

It will be a tuner without any emmision device removed. Which will mean more regens.

Sure will if it will run more rich.
I wonder if they built or will build in a manual regen option.
H&S is just trying to stay in business, as any business would try to do when shut down by the EPA.

10k tuned. No problems other than rear tires.

Not to jinx anyone, including myself, but what happens when a minimaxx/blackmaxx dies or gets broken somehow or worse yet, gets stolen??

Will H&S provide the people that had a real tuner before the EPA shut it down, a real replacement tuner or are we SOL? Do I really need to go spend another $1000 for a backup minimaxx before they are all sold?


I tried to call H&S about this the last week and believe it or not, no one ever came to the phone. Sat on hold for 30 mins waiting....that has NEVER happened with H&S before. Hopefully it was a fluke.

I don't know Andrew but I spent the $1000 on a backup for the reasons you state above. Returning to stock is not an option for me.

FYI If the head unit (tuner) is removed or stolen the truck will run but it will revert to the no power level (stock power level). I verified this with H&S.

I had the same question for H&S. and they told me as long as they have parts to fix them if something when wrong they would do so. He could not give me a answer if something happened to them a couple years down the road.

This is the same thing that Edge did two years ago. Edge never released a delete unit for the 6.7L. The EPA had already pressured them, So they released a Emission in place unit. It's strictly a matter of when the EPA notices a company and decides it's time to put the pressure on.

I won't get delivery of my truck until March with no plan to delete it quickly, but...

Is it possible that buying a tuner right now without this new emission limit would stay a non emission unit with the updates after January 21? The before and after tuners should be the same, just the software on it different? Which may mean buying a tuner now and then never update it?

H&S can't sell one so my opinion is you need to buy a spare or you're going to be stuck especially if it's stolen.
