C700 needs engine

well, all the little problems have manifested themselves into ONE BIG problem. think i blew the engine!! i was hauling band gear down the freeway when the loud banging started, thought the roof had ripped off the van. was a couple of miles b4 i could pull over, i wasn't able to go faster than 25mph. anyway now i have a bad knocking in the engine.
i don't have the resources to pull and replace an engine, seriously considering walking away from this project! i hate to think the cab would end up in the shredder, its really in amazingly great condition

I'd think yyou could find another engine or repair that one a lot easyier (and cheaper) than finding another truck like it.

Repower and restore is better than crush it

Hey Tom , Sorry to here about your engine problems . I agree with 80Broncoman about it would be cheaper to put a new engine in it than a new truck, plus it looks like a nice truck ,if it is the one in your profile picture .

Think how you would feel if you had unloaded this thing on the school district.

There are still a fair number of C series running. Parting it out wouldn't necessarily result in it ending up in the shredder.

You can still buy a rebuilt FT engine (short or long block) from an authorized Ford rebuilder. Closest one to NV is in the City of Industry CA ~ Genuine Parts Distributors aka Tomudor Engine Co.

If you were closer to Seattle we could fix her up for under a grand.

The engine used should be easy to find for around 500 bucks. A good mechanic should be able to pull the old one and replace in under 10 hours.

What engine is it any way? Have you drained the oil? Or figured out exactly what the banging was? could be an inner dual thats flat? Drive lines can make some nasty noises sometimes..

i haven't drained the oil yet or did a compression check.
i'm wondering if i'll need to flip the cab all the way forward onto a saw horse or something to gain access to pull the engine? thanks for info
