opinions needed

i just recurved my distributor and want some opinions from those who have already done it. i have a total of 34 and its all in by 2300 rpms.i have my initial at 14 .this is a 390 with a mild cam. should i keep experimenting or does this sound about right? truck idles great and responds good.vacuum advance is hooked to manifold and adds additional 10 degrees at idle.

My .02

Put in as much as the motor will take without issues. I usually put only one light spring on the weights as to allow them to move as quick as possible(but still pull back at idle). No vacuum advance though.

Mine are in stick vehicles with deeper gearing so it doesn't see as much load as an automatic with a tight converter and highway gears.

You want as much advance as you can get. Experiment until you get there. If you feel a slight loping at highway speed back it down a little. Sounds like your curve is pretty close.

Good luck!
