Has anyone converted to fuel injection with a kit? Thought it might be a good idea with the ethanol being added to gas plus the gas mpg that might be had. Any thoughts?
There is an FTE'er in FL who converted with a FAST EZ-EFI... haven't heard from him lately though.
The typical aftermarket choices include:
MSD Atomic EFI
FAST EZ-EFI
Professional Products' Powerjection III
Howell EFI Conversions
Holley's port or TBI systems
Megasquirt
... Edelbrock just introduced their E-Street EFI system. It was featured last week on Spike TV's "Horsepower" show topping a 5.3 Vortec rebuild.
It sounds great in theory but I believe it requries a return fuel line. With two fuel tanks I have no idea how to do that. It be great to learn from someone who has or if it's worth the trouble. Thanks for the info Hihosilver.
IIRC, the Atomic and Edelbrock E-Street EFI systems do not require a return line due to the pump being driven PWM (pulse width modulated).
I did some research and confirmed that a return line is optional with the MSD Atomic. I don't have enough info at this time whether it is optional on the E-Street system.
The others in the list above do require return line from an EFI-spec bypass regulator.

Run two pumps - one for each tank then split the return line using a fuel solenoid valve to engage when ya throw the fuel tank selector switch.
