Question 2001 f 250 4x4 front hub

2001 f 250 crew cab, lariat, 4 wheel drive, took truck to alignment shop for front end check and when they removed right front hub they found that the large spring in the hub was broken. Have not had any luck in finding a replacement spring. Every one wants to sell the entire hub assembly which does not seem reasonable to replace the unit to acquire the needed part.Does any one have any suggestions/advice? If i have to replace the assembly what do i need to look for, such as electronic/manual units, specs. etc. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank You

Hub

What large spring do they mean? I have had my hubs off and the only spring I remember is the one for the four wheel drive.

Do you mean the the locking four wheel drive hubs?

I replaced my old ones with the new Warn units from RifRaff.

I still have the old ones and they work ok, just ugly. I plan to put them on EBay soon.

Hope you get your problems fixed.

Question Locking hubs

Yes, it is the large dia. spring inside the locking hub. Thanks for your reply. If your hubs work good and are compatible with mine (switch on dash for elec. shift, or and the option of manually locking the hubs) Do you have a price in mind? C.D. Zook

Hubs

ZOOK

I think the hubs are the same for 99-2003.

I did not have auto 4x4 controls but used the manual locking features.

I would sell them for $50 plus shipping.

4x4 hubs

Hi Maule one
Thank you for reply, but I guess we better stay with electronic shift in replacing hub.

If you d make it to a u-pick yard, don't forget to check out the Expeditions. Their hubs are just automatic, no lock-auto dial but I believe the spring inside and the rest of the guts are the same. Bring tools with you to take the hub apart right in the yard to double check.

I have a pair of auto lock ESOF 4x4 hubs from a 2003 Excursion. Nice shape, complete, worked fine, but replaced them yesterday with Warn hubs.

$100 for the pair.
