Dana 60 questions

I bought a Dana 60 over a year ago and I'm finally getting around to getting it rebuilt for a swap into my F-250.

I ran into a road block 2 weeks ago when I couldn't remove the spindle nut without the specialized socket. I bought
this kit this kit
in order to remove the spindle nut.

However, today I was unable to remove the spindle nut with the included socket that is labeled as being for the Dana 60 axle.

What the previous owner of the axle had told me, it's a '93 ball joint Dana 60. As such, the kit should work, however the spindle nut socket in the tool kit has a inside diameter of ~ 1-15/16" at the four splines and the spindle nut requires a socket with an inside diameter of ~2-3/8" at the four splines.

I believe the axle has been worked on once before as I don't believe the hubs are the originals. I can't find any identifying marks on these hubs, so I'm not sure of the brand. Would changing the hubs have any effect on the type of spindle nuts used to assembly the axle?

Should be able to buy the large socket individually at an auto zone, etc.

The large one on the right in the picture has six tabs. The socket I need needs to have four, but the diameter should be about the same as that six tab one in the kit.

sorry didnt see there were 6 tabs. but yes you need the large 4 tab socket, and im pretty sure it has to have the external tabs, not the type with the tabs inside the sleeve

Would this be the correct one?
Amazon.com: K-D Tools 3246 4Wd Spindle Nut Wrnch: Home Improvement Amazon.com: K-D Tools 3246 4Wd Spindle Nut Wrnch: Home Improvement

Out of curiosity, what is the difference in applications between 3246 (description taken from the KD tools catalog)

4-Wheel-Drive Spindle Nut Wrench - 3246
4-lug wrench removes spindle nuts on 4-wheel drive vehicles. It
features uniquely designed lugs for maximum strength. Use with 1/2˝
square drive tool. Will work on Ford vehicles with ratcheting type lock
nuts on front axle.
Dimensions:OD: 2.63, ID: 2.27, Length: 3.24, Inside Depth: 3.0.
Application:
• 1981-1997 Ford F250-350, Bronco with Dana Axle, or Dana 50IFS
or model 60 monobeam axle outer adjusting nut.
• 1982-1990 GM Heavy Duty 3/4 and 1 ton trucks
and the 3937
4-Lug 4WD Spindle Nut Socket
1/2-Ton Dana 50 - 3937
Remove and install 4-slot front axle locknuts on 1981-97 Ford F250-
350, Bronco with Dana Axle, or Dana 50IFS or model 60 monobeam
axle outer adjusting nut; 1982-90 GM Heavy Duty 3/4- and 1-Ton trucks
The 3937 which I have and doesn't work, is listed as working on the '93 Dana 60 that I have. How would I have known ahead of time which one was the correct for my axle?

the socket you have is for the Dana 44 axle. the hint is that they say F-150
the 150 only came with the D44 ifs.

you need the other one.

There is one in the kit that specifies it is for a Dana 44 axle, but the description I provided in my previous post states that one of the sockets from the kit is compatible with the Dana 60.

I'm not trying to argue - I understand that I need a different one. I'm just trying to figure out if there is a configuration of a Dana 50 or Dana 60 that the kit will work on (if I should keep the kit or not).
