93 F150 possible transfer case problem???
93 F150 had to be towed home yesterday and the guy who towed it home said that it sounded like the drive chain broke in the trasfer case. Would this cause the truck not to move at all, even in 2 wheel drive? I know the transmission is spinning because when you start the truck and put it in gear the truck wont move, but as soon as you go to put it in park it will grind because of the tansmission spinning. So you have to shut it off to put it in park. It acts like it the transfer case is in nuetral. The transfer case in mine is electronic push button, so I have no nuetral setting that I know of. Is this right, or am I overlooking something?
Thanks

Borg Warner 1356 will be stamped into the case if that is what you have.
If the chain is broken, I believe you would just not have 4x4. Your through shaft would still be connected. I am not sure if you could put the automatic transfer case into neutral though.. But I would assume you can some way or some how since the only difference between the auto and manual was how it was actuated. The 1356 actually used the same case for both the motor and the shift linkage.
(Note: This is NOT a Borg Warner. Only used for internal image purposes)
