4x4 issues
Hey guys been searching the Internet and forums for weeks trying to find a solution to my 4x4 problem and can't seem to find anything. I have a 2004 f150 and when I put it in 4x4 it seems fine until I start to get on the throttle and then there is a popping/banging noise in my front end. It feels like it is disengaging or something. At real low speeds it is in 4x4 and doesn't do it until I get on it a little more. I Thought maybe it could be the IWE solenoid so I replaced that yesterday and tried it out in the snow today and it still does the popping. Anyone have this issue or any possible suggestions? It would seem to point to internal axle carrier problems possibly the spiders. I would pull the cover an inspect for large chips in the gear lube. It would be the cheapest trouble shoot. Also inspect the draive shafts for damaged U-joints. After that look to each independant wheel area.
