While turning in my 79 f150 with the 4x4 on it seems like there is something wrong with the front end. It almost feels the way a transmission feels when it bucks but its not that. It only happens when im in 4x4 and turning left or right (happens on basic turns that one would make while turning into a street or driveway as well as very sharp turns) I dont think it is the tranny because it only happens in 4x4 and not in 2 wheel. The best way i can describe it is like picturing an egg rolling end of end. it goes up slowly but once is starts to fall it goes fast . i dont know if anyone can understand my meaningless rambling but if so help please.

Hey AJ, I understand your rambling. What you're feeling is common to ALL 4x4's when you drive them in 4wd. The slight bucking that you feel is binding between the front and rear axles. Anytime you are turning sharp on a non-slippery surface you'll feel this. That's why they often say you shouldn't engage 4x4 on dry pavement. There is no problem with the truck and nothing to worry about, just don't use 4x4 in tight turns unless you're on snow, ice, mud, etc.
It is your transfer case trying to tell you not to drive in 4x4 on a surface with good traction or it will end up breaking or a front axle shaft will instead.
