Hi everyone. Look I have a little 4x4 transmission problem. When I use it in 4x4 low, and then try to deactivate it doesn't do it at all. Stays with the 4x4 on although the indicator is off. I can only deactivate when I completely stop, active 4x4 again and return to single traction. Does anybody knows why the truck do it?
nmr.inc, the next time it happens, try moving the truck in the opposite direction that you have just gone for a couple of feet. It might just be bound up.
As Oldguy4 said, try backing up in a straight line about 20 feet or so after switching it out of 4 Low. This should relieve any binding that may be keeping gears locked together...which will enable the transfer to actually shift as needed.
You have to switch out of 4x4lo in a very specific process. You cannot just go straight from 4x4lo to 4x2 with the switch.
4x4 Lo -> Come to a Stop -> Transmission in Park -> Switch to 4x4 Hi -> Wait for dash to indicate -> Switch to 4x2 -> Wait for Dash to Indicate
and as mentioned, sometimes driveline torque will cause the IWE to get bound up. A simple change of direction (reverse) will do wonders and allow the IWE to release.
Thanks you all for response. In fact all your responses was very helpful. I try it this afternoon and work great going backwards a little. Problem solved. But one more question. Is there any way to check if my 4x4 transmission is damaged? just for precaution.
Driving in 4lo on hard surface is really the only way to hurt the drive train. There is a failsafe of sort to not allow engaging 4lo while moving, imagine dropping into low by accident at 40 or 50 mph...... drive train would be all over the road.
Yeah! now I know for real. Well I'm new in this 4x4 traction, in fact this truck is my first car jeje. So I really appreciate all your advices and tips. Thank you everyone
