I am having trouble turning the wheels. Just flushed all fluid and added new ATF. Plain and simple the wheels do not turn with ease. It seems like a truck with no power steering or deflated air content. Where do I start? Is my pump bad or could it be the box. I see flow in the res. I know the pump is moving fluid but amount is an unknown. What do I do to track problem.
Do you have issues with steering wheel slower than usual returning to center also? Possible alxe shaft u joint frozen up.
Was able to cure tire cupping and return to center issuse when I found a rusted axle shaft u joint.
Good luck.
H.P.
No hub issues went over them during ball joint replacement. And when I unlock I always check to make sure there free by turning axle- just a habit I have to make sure I am not turning parts in front end at freeway speeds. Does anyone think it could be pump or box?
this is simply! junk undersized ford steering system with big lifted tires on top of that. Only SD that turns good is a bone stock one, once bigger tires get put on fords steering system cant turn them at all. Im only running 285/75r16 all terrains and my truck has trouble turning when im sitting still, moving is normal but trying to back up my 20ft boat on the street, forget it!

Some people can turn that size on pavement. Keep your foot off the brake though.
Disconnect the steering column shaft at the steering box. Check the Column's u-joint for seizing. Don't forget position of steering wheel or clock-spring damage can occur. Better yet, tie off the steering wheel inside the cab so it can't make a full revolution.
You can also raise front end, separate each tie-rod from strg knuckle and check all strg and ball joints for ease of movement.
Also as stated earlier, partially seized axle u-joint. Good luck.
