Ashtray...how do I fix it?

Ashtray...how do I fix it?
To open the ashtray you push inward and it pops out.
I pushed it inward and it went further in and now it won't stay in the shut position. How do you remove it or fix it? I didn't want to go to the dealership.

most likely 1 or both of the flat springs are broken or missing. To remove you can get a small flat screwdriver to work it out of the depressed position. There are 2 release clips, similar to a cabinet drawer, under the cupholder/ ashtray to pull it completely out. Most likely you'll need a new ashtray.
