well i do beacuse i remove the ficm brackets for more room and less scratches and scrapes and bad words. just a quick note these are aggravating, just be patient and use new hardware. its worth it in the install.
I also remove the FICM and brackets. You need all the room you can make on that job.
Any word about your truck yet? What did the dealership come up with on your FICM problem?
Thanks guys. The service writer said that the FICM is not removed to r & r the y-pipe.He said its not even in that area. I told him maybe the tech dropped the FICM on accident since my troubles came right after y-pipe replcement.Anyways they are still waiting for the part.Ordered Tuesday.
I can't imagine how much of a pain it would be to try and remove a y-pipe with the FICM in place, especially for the extra 5 minutes it takes to remove it...
As for the FICM problem, I have seen them damaged from the extreme heat of the exhaust if the y-pipe leak blows at it...
the hundred is for the FICM replacement that their waiting for.should that be covered 100% under the 5/100,000 the y-pipe was done at 35,800 now there is 36,800
Some techs that do a lot of trans work are so fast at pulling a trans that they will pull tranny to replace y pipes. Absolutely nothing in the way then. Its all what you are prepared to do to make time (or save your knuckles).

I've been tempted to try that several times, but the dudes I work with all say they've tried it, and the pipe won't come out. It would be great if it could since the trans. is so easy to remove.
