I have a 2001 7.3L F250 i bought a couple months ago and noticed the green coolant is slowly dropping in the degas tank. I add some and it eventually drops again to the min within 2 weeks. The hoses look like they could be suspect so I will be getting new ones asap. I don't notice anything from the water pump weep hole.
I have done a lot of reading and bought the Fleetguard 3-way test strips to mesure the amount of additives in the coolant system. Well it came up bone dry so I added 16oz of DCA-4 and figure I will need more. I also have sent a oil sample to blackstone for analysis as the oil, to me, seems to have a green tint although it stays rock steady at the fill line.
My question is how long to wait before I test again? I warmed up the engine and drove it down the road and checked the degas bottle but it didn't look like it cycled any of the fluid, that I could tell, through the coolant system as the degas bottle was still the same color as when I added the DCA-4 additives.
I would drive it about 10 miles & recheck it - Should be plenty to cycle thru - The color of the coolant probly wont change at all adding sca. Good luck

Thanks for any input you can provide...

If it was me, I would switch over to a heavy-duty ELC and then you never have to check SCA's again. See this link...
Is it normal for the degas/expansion level in the tank to rise when you have driven the truck then when it cools the level drops? That's the whole purpose right not to blow the radiator etc...
