i would assume if i had a leak like that, i would see fuel coming out somewhere when it was running? so after I get it running (if i do in awhile) . i should be able to see fuel coming out somewhere right if i look at everything close enough?
Ok i think i do have a fuel leak now, somewhere around the fuel filter, its getting dark now and ill have to wait on a friend to get over tommorrow so i can stand outside and watch for it as he cranks. it almost did fire up at one point. then i noticed the puddle of fuel under the truck. so i think everything is fine with the gp system and injector pump. and probally wasted money on a new fuel filter,gp and relay from a fuel leak. ill report tommorrow after noon what i find out, thanks for all the advice
If you have the filter with the cap that screws onto the bottom, you can change it to a solid one with a drain petcock on the bottom. the 2 piece ones are prone to leaks. I think its part#1406 at NAPA.
Yes thats the one I put on it, i mightve found my problem today. got it running and noticed leakage at the return line that runs from injector to injector near the fuel filter . if only i had looked closer I wouldnt spent on this money on a new filter, gp, gp controller. I remember doing one side last summer and didnt do the other side with new return lines. so i found a piece of old hose and stuck it on there with clamps and started it again and made sure they were no leaks anywhere ( old plastic line from a lawn mower). I will replace with new hose tommorrow, i just want to see if thats really my problem. the test will come tommorrow, if it starts right up and doesnt stall after sitting overnight. but i didnt notice anymore leaking anywhere while it was running. Now, one other problem is,, my oil dipstick broke off the handle inside the dipstick tube. looks like i have to take that off to get it out thanks for all your help ! Ill post a pic of the ambulance soon
Disturbing those return lines can cause leaks from where the caps go on top of the injectors. They say you need viton o rings because of the new fuel. There are a lot of return line kits out there, and some have been known to cause as many problems as they solve. A couple members on here sell a good quality kit that they put together. I've never dealt with anyone from here, but I believe username Typefour is one to contact. Send him a PM
