hard start when cold/warm ok

Well, my bad luck continues.

I had my pump rebuilt, just because it was leaking. During that, one of the injectors that was just over a year old went bad, and now I have another problem....

The truck sits for a week at a time. The last two starts have been a pain. It cranks fine, acts like it starts, but doesn't. Another couple of sets of cranking a nice big plume of blue smoke and it will start.

Once its warm, it fires right up w/o any problem whatsoever.

I tried doing a search. I can't tell if I should be looking for an air in the line problem, or a glow plug type problem.

The funny thing is that it never happened before the pump was rebuilt.

Any suggestions? Should I look for an air leak type problem, or start heading toward a glow plug issue.

I should also mention, since I bought the truck a year ago, the wait to start light never seemed to stay on long enough, and I've always heard the clicking noise.

If you disturbed the return lines when replacing the injector and did not replace all the return lines.........you may very well have an air leak into the system.

Also along those lines. If the fuel return lines between the injectors are painted "gray" they are original and need to be replaced.

I agree with PLC7

Well, it's definately not the glow plugs, those were an easy test.

I replaced all my return lines last year when I did the injectors. I can see any huge wet spot, so I'm just going to to it again.

Before doing a re due of work. Clean everything really good and see if you can see the leak. If it is leaking fuel out then it definitely is letting air into the fuel system.

If you ran it much in that year, my guess is the O rings are hard enough that they did not reseal after you disturbed them.
