side step rust, Removing pad to paint?

side step rust, Removing pad to paint?
hey guys i have a set of westen side steps on my reg cab. that are starting to peal and rust. im gonna remove them, sand them down and paint them. but there is rust coming from under the little foot pad and i wont be able to get all the rust under there with sanding without removing the pad. How can i remove them? pry them up? and if i do how do i get them back on? are they glued on? there is no screws or hardware.

I had some of those and when I had mine they are just pushed in with one way plastic clips. When I ordered mine the pads came damaged, and the manufacturer sent me some new ones. You can pry them off but will likely break the plastic tabs.

No, its one solid molded piece and you probably wont be able to glue them back on. If you pry them off, they will probably need to be replaced.
